Service was top notch.
Awesome beef teriyaki, served along with 2 heaping scoops of rice & salad. I just loved the Papaya dressing. They also offer sushi and a ton of freshly baked goodies. Saw a nice looking espresso machine there--too bad it was too late in the day for a latte. Great place to start before you head on to the volcano.Lisa M. - read more here
I heard this place had sushi...
...and had procrastinated for some time and decided to go for a try. Upon arriving, it was an hour from closing and it was actually the chef's last night. Wow wow wow!!! The best sushi I have ever had...hands down. The chef is world famous and boy does he live up to the hype. Authentic just as if you were sitting in an alleyway hole in the wall in downtown Tokyo. I cannot believe how amazing this place was. I'm so fortunate to have made it on the last hour on the very last day, literally. A big Mahalo to Chef Kojima!!

What a wonderful restaurant
The bowl consisted of fresh salmon and veggies in a fish broth with Udon noodles. We then proceeded to order for ourselves a plate of assorted sashimi and various sushi rolls. All of which were excellent. The menu was small and contained the usual items, but the sushi rolls were very good and were of a good serving size. This was definitely a hidden gem in the Upcountry region of Maui. It is well worth the stop if you ever find yourself in the neighbourhood.

"This weekend I did hickory-smoked beer-can chicken, guava-glazed baby-back ribs, and island-style kalbi with choice of white, brown or hapa rice." Read the entire review onMaui News

Chef Lu Calina at Local Mocha Café, Maui.
If you find yourself in upcountry Maui, just outside of Pukalani, you'd be forgiven if you missed the humble Local Mocha Café situated at the street-end of a strip mall of sorts.
But you'd kick yourself for missing out on some deliciously creative sushi dishes. Prepared with a smile, you can enjoy some of the best food on the island at some of the lowest prices you'll find.
Sushi is only available in the evenings from Thursday through Saturday and the dining area, while charming, is definitely no frills—but it's more than adequate to comfortably sample the wonderful food after a day of exploring upcountry - by hfabulous on Flickr
